04Brand Stores
A brand store is a route, not a gallery
Multi-page stores fail quietly: every page is fine, and no page leads anywhere.

A brand store gets judged page by page, because that is how it gets built and how it gets reviewed. But nobody visits a page. They arrive somewhere, and then they either go somewhere else or they leave.
The arrival problem
The landing page is designed with enormous care, and it is frequently not where people land. A store's second and third pages are entrances too, and they are usually designed as if they were interiors, with no orientation and no obvious next move.

Designing the joins
- 01Every page should answer where you are, without being asked.
- 02Every page should offer one obvious next step, not five equal ones.
- 03The navigation should describe the range the way a shopper would, not the way the catalogue is filed internally.
A store with six good pages and no route through them performs like a store with one page.
The joins are the part that does not show up in a page-by-page review, which is precisely why they are worth reviewing separately.
